PCs = Political Censors – Amanda’s Twitter Account Suspended

CALGARY, ALBERTA (APRIL 12, 2013, 10:06)

We know the Progressive Conservatives don’t handle dissent very well. Yesterday, the last tweet I read before going to sleep said: “@AmandaAchtman stop spamming people.” The next morning, my twitter account had been suspended.

Please continue to share the video “Some Party That I Used To Know” on Facebook and Twitter. Tweet it to your friends, the media, and most especially, the PCs.

Will you send the PCs a message?

  1. Is it really “dissent” if it’s coming from opposition? I think it’s fair to point out you haven’t been PC since before the leadership in 2011. 🙂

  2. You posted your video on twitter 25+ times in one morning, and cc’ed uninterested ppl on it. No wonder it got marked as spam. Good try blaming the PC’s again tho.

  3. It is against Twitter’s terms of usage to bombard any feed with repeated, identical tweets that all contain the same link. Furthermore, Twitter has monitoring software that immediately flags accounts engaged in that activity. Flagged accounts are then investigated and suspended based on whether or not the account is found to have spammed a feed.

You posted over 40 identical tweets in less than 3 minutes, and spammed media outlets with those tweets. That is a direct violation of Twitter’s terms of usage. On top of that, you had a low follower count which is an immediate signal to Twitter that the account is most likely spamming when they engage in that many tweets in that short of a time frame.

Now you suggest the government somehow had you censored?

Not sure which is more disappointing – an “academic” who doesn’t read terms of service before she clicks “agree”, or a young woman who refuses to accept responsibility for misuse of the service, as set out by Twitter’s terms, and instead has the arrogance to suggest the PCAA would launch a conspiracy attack against her for a silly parody video.

Someone call Alex Jones. We’ve got a live one here!
